Is this still a valid way to add a custom Look And Feel?

I couldn't get it to pick up my LAF.

We cannot guarantee that any L&F will work ok with IDEA. So of course
you can install a l&f but use it on your own risk.

While I'm sure this is not a major issue for most of the users:
In my opinion, the UI of IDEA itself seems a little bit dated - there are many borders/bevels that seem unnecessary to me and make the UI look "heavy" (e.g.: look at the borders around the splitpane-dividers between the left/right sidebars and the main content view).

I just gave Netbeans 6 a try and while IDEA still beats Netbeans in terms of usability, the UI of Netbeans looks somewhat cleaner/lighter to me (granted, the Netbeans UI looks horrible on OSX, but that's another story). So my questions:

1. Are there any plans to streamline / clean the IDEA UI ?

2. Regarding Look&Feels: will IDEA support the Nimbus Look&Feel ?

In the end this is a matter of personal taste for sure - but I just wanted to give you my 2 cents on this topic ;)
