EAP for daily use?

Hi,

Is there anybody, who was able to use any of the last 5 EAP releases
for more than a half hour without restart in a production system?

Yes - me :)

I have no problems running it a few days without restart since ~815 (since the new CVS
became relatively stable)

But my current projects are small <100 classes and most of the time I don't use IDEA's make.

Allthough my colleagues think I'm a bit dangerous when using EAP releases
for production (especially when refactoring forgets some JSP pages !!!!!!!
there's an SCR already filled abt that), otherwise, yes, I'm using it for
production system.
It happens sometimes that there are some endless internal errors, but a
restart and everything is okay again.
But it's quite rare. So I'm happy with that.
I haven't used 833 yet enough to say whether it is of better or worse
quality for production use.

You are lucky.

Well, I'm quite happy to being able to use 833 for approx. a half hour
until the first, endless internal error occured. On every previous
build (since 813 or so) it took max. 10 minutes. Good progress.

Sort of, yes.

Couldn't keep 823 running for more than 20 minutes without some sort of exception. XML support is so broken, I was editing XML files with Eclipse.

Went back to 818, and that seems a little better. Usually goes for a couple hours without a crash. XML support still a bit ropey, but a lot more stable than 823

I could be wrong, but I think the EAPs have been more unstable since the chaps started doing the weekly release thing.

I understand that this is test software, but I'm not used to the EAPs being this bad ....

Been using all the EAPs daily without trouble, apart from the early ones
with cvs, but then it didn't realy cause me "trouble" as I just used
command line cvs, or SmartCVS.

I've been using the new EAP since 816 and am happy to do it, both because of
new features (I don't care much about GUI editor as I am writing servlets
but other features are nice), and also due to the fact that I can influence
IntelliJ and help make it better.

I can always go back to 3.0.5 but I don't really see the need to.

I've been using 823 daily with minimal problems, and rare restarts. I am getting frequent exceptions, especially when IDEA is trying to figure out what I want to type, but they are just an annoyance, and I just ignore them.

Build 818 was very good for me, build 823 got problems too often. By the way, I wonder what the technical problems with 828 have been since that one worked really good for me.

Yep, me.
I haven't used the CVS integration much though, I don't quite trust it
yet. And I only use ant from the command line. The occasional exception
I could work around.

I've had no problems with any of the recent releases, even the short lived 828. Haven't tried 833 yet though and compared with some of the power users here, my usage is somewhat lightweight.

I there were "legal" issues - most likely to do with the Generics compiler
stuff maybe...

Well, after uncommenting the <appender-ref ref="DIALOG"/> line in the
$IDEA_HOME/bin/log.xml I could use it some hours (on a small project).
