Can connect using FTP but no files or folders appear

Hello!

I am encountering the strangest thing.  I can succesfully connect to a remote server using ftp, but for some reason none of the files or folders appear.  I've checked using other FTP connection programs and all work fine.  Plesae let me know if anyone else has encountered this and may have a solution. Thanks!
