I like the look of them too. However, does anyone else feel that the placement of the icons should be reversed for methods having both the "overridden" and "overrides" icons?
Currently, the "overridden" icon is on the left, pointing down to the subclass(es) and the "overriddes" icon is on the right, pointing up to the superclass/interface. To me, it would be more intuitive if the positions were swapped. Up on the left and down on the right seems to follow more with tree views and common left-to-right and tom-to-bottom thinking.

I haven't taken a look at them yet but from your description I agree with you. The down arrow should be on the right.

It would also be nice to integrate the implemented/override icons with the breakpoint icon. Perhaps just convert the current implemented/override icon to a red, or green/red icon, and slap the check or the X over it. I'm not sure how ugly this would be, but it might be less ugly that the expanding/contracting gutter (it looks like it's breathing...).
You see, that's to show you that IDEA is alive! She finally awakened! She's not just a program anymore, she's part of you. She breathes what you breath, she thinks what you think, in perfect unisson. Great works, guys :)
Oh great. So it's only a matter of time before she decides she can do it better than you. And it's only a matter of a little more time before she's right.
...but should be combined if something is overridden and overriding...
+1
that's a realy great idea!!! please post it in the tracker.

Ah, great, thanks! I just added a vote.
