IntelliJ on 1.4.2beta

Hi.

Has anyone (inside or outside JetBrains) tried to run Aurora under 1.4.2 to
check on the new stuff (XP l&f for example)?

Yes, I'm running IDEA on JDK 1.4.2 build 22 (RC) for the last few days
and it works just fine. The XP Look-n-feel is ok, it's not completed
though, but they will not complete it until 1.5 anyway.

Oh does this mean the caching issue we voted on is now resolved?

Is there a reason why 81X is not being released with 1.4.2 beta support?

Eugene, is the "File Open" Dialog window faster on 1.4.2? i though i remembed that they made it faster by fixing the swing implentation. when you do a file open, its incredbily slow currently. th eperformance currently is really unacceptable, especially when you have network drives mapped and local drives subst'ed on xp.

It scans my floppy drive every time I open it or try to open that combo
with the drives. This is awful. To open the dialog takes 4-5 seconds.

Eugene, you should try to see what happens when you DON'T have a floppy
drive on a laptop. I have a dell laptop and I don't use the drive bay on
it, even have it turned off, in both 3.0.4 and 815 I click open, to get
something from the drive, and the button depresses and sits there for a good
10 seconds. I think it's looking for where the drive is, then finally gives
up.

Lame.

I'm using 1.4.2 under Linux all the day and it seems quite stable. We
are going to open ability to run IDEA on 1.4.2-beta just after we fix
some problems with GTK LAF.

Please, please can you show us any screenshots of IDEA running in that configuration?!

I was wrong, the File chooser in 1.4.2 is fine (I was running the 1.4.1
build)

I suggest that for the future builds, release 2 versions - one with JRE
1.4.1 and one with 1.4.2 so that Aurora could be 100% ready for 1.4.2 when
it comes out. I will use that and I believe many others will as well.

I liked the snapshot, and the file dialog annoyances might be enough for
people to use 1.4.2 at least for IntelliJ, which means a win-win situation.

no we cannot. IDEA currently doesn't work with GTK LAF. That is the
problem. But please don't expect something fantastic. GTK LAF is far
from native look (feel is even worse).

How about on linux with the Gtk look and feel? ( that seemed rather buggy
thou )

Whats the Enterprise App tab on that screenshot? I don't think I've seen
that ( is that part of some enterprise edition ? )

is this an indirect announcement for the new home of your blog? I read
somewhere in this group that you wanted to move that to the intellij
servers but never heard anything about it after that...

How did you happen to get build 22? Seems like the latest build I can get is build 19.

We are a part of Sun's CAP program, we get almost every internal build.
