Velocity Syntax Highlighting?

Hi there,

I wonder why IDEA (3.0.5) doesn't support syntax coloring for Velocity
files? File Templates are velocity files and they are colored?

Did i just overlook the button the assign .vm files to the color scheme? I
really would like to have colored velocity files. #set, #if&co and the
$ stuff would be cool but html/xml coloring would be nice too.

Would be cool to have. Planned feature? Implemented in EAP?

Greetings,
Thomas

You can easily define a new file type
Menu.Option.IDE Settings.File Type
, associate to *.vm
, and specify the keywords you want to see highlighted.

Hi,

I did that but oh well you can't make'em highlight $ stuff and
unfortunatly you cannot combine it with the usual plain xml/html colors.

the live template colors are very neat and i really would like to have these
for vm files.

Yes, I'd really like to see this capability expanded. For example, being
able to specify regex expressions to define variables or other constructs
beyond just keywords.

For example, I have shell scripts that I edit with IDEA, and if I could have
it color code the $var expressions, it'd help me catch missing dollar signs
and the like.

Additionally, VBScript and VB files have no block comments, but two
equivalent line comment characters... the single quote ' and the word "REM".
There's no way to get IDEA to display this correctly (it seems hardcoded to
treat a single quote as a string or character literal delimiter).

I think there are some definite improvements that could be made in this area
(some of them already have tracker requests submitted, but seem to just be
sitting there collecting dust).
