Cleanup of IDEA for OS X?

Agreed especially since some of these bugs are classified as stopship and been there forever and are still there in Aurora...

While there might still be issues with 1.4.1 final on OS X, surely there are some things that could be addressed by IntelliJ (tabs anyone?) :)

Robert, I agree on this one.

Please cleanup the current bug/feature request list. This will also lower the number of duplicates caused by the somewhat broken search capability. (And btw., a few days ago I got the votes returned for "improve tracker search" ).

believe that work (bugfixes in OS X version) is going on. I think that
upcoming Ariadna builds will include OS X related fixes. Please don't
think that we forgot about OS X users.

True but I know that IntelliJ has had access to all the builds, and since some of the bugs reported have been there and are IntelliJ specific bugs, I thought it would be appropriate to ask and find out when fixes will be coming.

Vladimir was kind enough to respond and make us feel at ease that OS X fixes are coming.

No one is pushing anyone.

its just a 'me too!' kind of post as i only want to point
out that i would really appreciate continious OSX support
for IDEA. i think it feels really good already and some
focus,font problems combined with some mysterious-crashs and the everlasting splashscreen does not cut the fun.
(while together601 is really no fun on my g4/pb/1ghz/1gb)

p.s.:
one thing i really want to know though, is if there are
plans to port that fileWatching.dll. or a better question, is it at least possible to port that thing?

I hope the biggest problems will be fixed for a 3.0 update, because EAP
is not ready for real productive use yet.

Maybe we should try to find a good Mac OS keymap togehter, that maps all
keys to places where an experienced Mac user would expect them.
Especially the Shift-Fxx keys are not that good on a Powerbook.

Absolutely, I concur with that 100%. The F keys on a powerbook are almost useless, except for F8 and up. The issue is that you can't always press the fn key to use the F keys themselves, it's very inconsistent from one shortcut to the next.

I would personally like to see a keymap to the numbers on the keyboard, so something like optionctrl 6 for rename and optionctrlshift6 for move. Maybe that's a lot of keys, but that's better than not having the F keys work.

Of course if the fn key can be consistently mapped to work with the F keys then the point is moot.

I was about to put something together. If none else will do it till beginning of next week I will post something here on this list.

I also thought about that. My idea was to put up a page on the wiki. I also wanted to start an OS X FAQ there (e.g. how can I get the console for exception stack, how can I get a thread dump, where are the interesting files hiding,...). Working together on that would mean half the work for each of us. I am new to Mac so I might need some help.

I'd be happy to get some replies to either this thread or to my e-mail address dittert@despammed.com.

Easy fix actually! Boot into OS9, go to the keyboard control panel, and you can control the behaviour of the fn key. You can set it so hitting f1 emits an f1, rather than a 'dim display', and to get dim display, you would use fn+f1. Very bizarre that that option cannot be set in OSX (or classic running under OSX)

That's nice, I however don't have OS 9 installed, and if you think about the new machines out now which will not boot in OS 9, there has to be some other way to turn off the F key stuff, or at least reverse it so you have to press the fn key to turn volume up and stuff.

One workaround is to use uControl http://www.gnufoo.org/ucontrol/uControl1.2.0.dmg, at least I can use some of the F keys directly.

OK, I just started a OS X Keymap Section on http://www.intellij.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IdeaReferenceCard.

Since I hate latex I used the wiki itself. Isn't really nice, but works. I hope I can add the missing sections today, so we can start discussing in a new EAP Thread ASAP.

That's fine with me (and basically what I intended to do). I'll be busy
this week but I'll start with the Debugging page this weekend.
Additionally I need to read through the Wiki tutorial first.
