How many people use IDEA?

Hello,

Can someone please give me an estimate of how many people use IDEA as their primary Java IDE, including EAP's (and, possibly, cracked versions of the releases)?
I was a bit surprised not to find this information on the site, like, "IDEA is used by over 42 gazillions of developers", but I am sure someone does care and does count.

Why, everyone of taste and distinction, of course!

Seriously? I imagine only JetBrains have those numbers, and whether they are prepared to release data that reflects their sales is really up to them. All anyone else can offer are guesses...

The only thing I know for sure is that a more people are average programmers
than good ones.

Eugene, why do you care how much people are using IDEA? The majority in
German drives a VW Golf (aka Rabbit). Does that mean VW Golf is the best
car? No, it does not as a couple of statistics or reports show. But it is
good enough for them. Do you want to use a "good enough" IDE?

Enough that it allows JetBrains to make the investment to do some amazingly innovative work with each new version. Also enough that it supports a viable community, including a decent number of third-party extensions. Not so many that there is pressure for it to become a bloated, least-common-denominator "platform", destroying it's usability.

(In actual numbers, I have no idea.)

I just bought my license when 6.0 was released and now I'm a very happy customer.

Beforehand, blah blah... same story, I tried Eclipse, Netbeans and JDeveloper.

"I am just more productive in IntelliJ."

Thanks,
