CVS Color Coding Questions

I can't seem to get the color coding for CVS files to work at all with IDEA and WinCVS 1.2. Is this the wrong version of WinCVS to have for the color coding to work? In the IDEA Help file it says IntelliJ tested it with cvs 1.11 for windows, but I can't find just that standalone client.

I guess my question is exactlly what version does IntelliJ use for testing? And if it doesn't come with the WinCVS packages (I am downloading the 1.3 beta right now), did you guys build the cvs client from source on windows? Or are you using the cvs that comes with cygwin?

Thanks,
Patrick

You can find the standalone client for windows under http://www.cvshome.org/dev/codewindow.html or exactly http://ftp.cvshome.org/win32/cvs-1-11-2.zip.
I use it, and had no problems and color coding works.

Hope that help,
rolf

I just installed WinCVS 1.3 beta and after doing an update with it, things have worked themselves out. I think this code base includes a fix for the nasty way Windows handles DST.

Thanks,

Hi Michael,
do the other CVS-commands (checkout, update, commit, diff,...) work without problems?

Hi Rolf,

yes all is working fine but the color coding. Is it possible with this version of cvs.exe to get the color coding enabled? The only color I get on a checkout is red for non pertinent files.

Hi Michael,
yes it definitely is possible. I'm using it quite a while and never had any problems, it worked from scratch.
Have you tried a new checkout to a completely clean location from within IDEA? And the checkout command finished sucessfully? If you commit a new file, is it also not recognized? Or, maybe you can send a screenshot of CVS file view. By the way, which OS do you use?

Ok, I now know the problem. We dont't talk about the same subject. I want a color coding in the console view of IDEA (like the WinCVS console on a checkout). It is easier to recognize changes, conflicts etc.
