Performance of IDEA on Intel Macs

I am running IDEA on a 2gig PowerBook with 1 gig of memory and Apple latest Java 1.5

It seems very sluggish, in particular its mult-taksing seems poor and the program seems to freeze on occasion - I can click on things and have to wait up to 20 seconds before it kicks into life.

Anyone else finding these problems or have an suggestions.

I'm running the same setup but with 2 gigs of memory and IDEA runs very fine indeed. I know that doesn't help very much.

Have you made any changes to the default settings?

Are you using the latest Apple Java 1.5?

Marc,

on 2gig PowerBook (G4) it was indeed sluggish and took some patience,
on a 2gig MacBook Pro you can expect near blazing performance, it's
great fun now.

I am using an Intel laptop. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong?

Problem appears to be I had set the maximum memory available too high. It seems you can have too much of a good thing.....

Thanks for the help.
