Version 3.0 ETA?

Excuse me if this question has been asked way too often, but is there any ETA on release of Ariadna to IDEA v3.0. The reason I ask is because of a timing issue with buy new licences. Will it be within the next 8 months?

The going line is that 3.0 will be out in a week or so.

I presume (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that licenses bought for 2.6 will work for 3.0???

Not necessarily. You always buy a license that enables you to use all versions of IDEA that were released before the date of purchase or up to 8 months after it.

I think they have a timestamp in the key, so when you have a license from August 2001 and you try to load it into IDEA 3.0 when it comes out in say one or two weeks, it will simply reject the license.

Note however that the EAP builds run with the old licenses.

They did a nice thing with 2.6. It worked with my license that was more than 8 months old when it came out. I don't expect this will be the same case with 3.0 though and I won't blame them because of it. Somehow IntelliJ has to pay their people for doing this great job.

I bought a license through one company in May and a second license (through my company) in about August. Having two licenses should (I hope) entitle me to exchange them for at least one 3.0 license. :)

I s'pose I'll just have to ask.

Re: Licenses...

We purchased 10 Licenses in Late February, 2002, If the product was released on the planned date (October 15th, from reading these threads) then they would work. So I will assume/expect them to work for 3.0 when it is released.

I got a license on Feb 14... Pity it didn't get released on the 15th hey? ;)

At least my company just got another 20 this week, so I'll still be able to use 3.0.

Bill,

AFAIK release date wasn't announced by JetBrains.
