Suggest 1.4.1 for Final. No heavyweight popup problems.
We ran into the problems in 1.4.0 with focus and heavyweight popups. I can confirm that in JDK 1.4.1 heavyweight popups behave almost exactly like they used to 1.3.1. So you may be able to remove some dodgy code that caters for the buggy 1.4.0 focus problems.

Just noticed the included JRE in 657 is 1.4.1
Is JDK 1.4.1 final? When SUN say FCS (First Customer Ship) are they saying
"this is the first full release" or "this is alpha software but we're
letting you have a go anyway" ?!?!?

Yes it means 1.4.1 is final.
IMHO they should just have labeled it "1.4.1" to avoid confusion
