Change double click behavior on TO DOs

Presently, double clicking on a TO DO highlights the entire TO DO line. I want it to just highlight the TO DO text itself, whatever that may be. Can this functionality be changed, or is there a work around? It is very unintuitive from normal highlighting behavior.
