Tool Windows

I've been using IDEA for a few years, and the one limitation that I wish I could change is the fact that the "Tool Windows" always get in the way of the editor. I know I can hide them and unhide them with Alt-#, but it still always seems cumbersome

I would like to be able to see the console output in a completely separate window... not a floating window, so I can Alt-Tab between them (but still have hyperlinked stack traces and all the nice integration with IDEA)

Is there some limitation to underlying GUI toolkit that prevents this feature? I was hopeful that Irida would add this feature, but apparently not.

Thanks,
Otto

You should file a request at the issue tracker at http://jetbrains.net/jira. I would vote for it.

Why not just undock the console window and use Alt-# to make it visible?
