Need comments about 4.5.3 and 4.5.4 from users/Intellij

I have Intellij 4.5.2 running on my machine. There has been a tremendous improvement in the IDE since 3.0.5. But at the sametime, there's been lot of bugs with this new 4.5.x version. Now I am kind of reluctant to go forward with 4.5.3 or 4.5.4. I just want to make sure they (4.5.3, 4.5.4) are JUST bug fixes and definitely better than 4.5.2. I would love to hear the feedback from the Intellij community.

Thanks.

Yes, only bugs fixes are made in minor releases.
And yes, some of those fixes are critical enough to justify updating.

Thanks very much, for the quick response. I've got my company's licensed version of IntelliJ. Can I install 4.5.4 over 4.5.2 or I need to uninstall 4.5.2 and install 4.5.4 clean?

Those two are definetely compatible. New major version may have incompatibilities
though.

I have installed multiple versions of Intellij at the same time without problems.

I did this to import all my custom settings from previous installation and an option to use the older version, if I run in to a problem with the updated version.

Fortunately ... it hasn't been a problem for me until now.

Haven't tried 4.5.4 though. But I do not suspect anything of this nature to have changed since 4.5.3.

4.5.4 is very stable. You should have no problems with it. I believe it
is safe to install overtop of 4.5.2, although honestly, I have never
done that (I usually install in separate folders because I have many
different installations). The most important thing you'll want to do is
keep your old settings, which you can do during the intallation. You can
either point IDEA to the old location (often in your user directory), or
import from a previous installation. This import works fine, no problems.
