Using IDEA to edit files external to the project Follow
Is there a way (plugin, feature I have not found) to send files to IDEA for editing from the system? I hate pulling up JEdit just to edit some semi-related file. It is also a pain to add barely related directories just to get good editing.

Is "File->Open File" menu what you want?

Yes, the functionality is correct, but I want to be able to send files from the shell to Idea and have them treated as though I went through the "file open" menu item. I am thinking JEdit here. In Windows it opens up files from the context menu or "drag and drop". It would be nice to have that functionality or the ability to add it myself.

SystemTools plugin can open files from command line or by file type
association.
Thanks!
