jsp long standing bugs and little evolution

hi,

I am writing because of a long standing severe bug in intellij jsp handling: it simply treats

jsp:include

just like a

@ include file

hence it gets includes, variables scopes all wrong.
this bug already surfaced after 3.0 version, and after a while (and several protests) it was fixed; it reappered after 4.0, and is there since (it can all be seen from the tracker).

this bug is severe because it hits productivity at its core; it is true that in theory jsps are not a central technology, but in reality they are a principal productive and testing tools.

sensitiveness to productivity issues has historically been the strong point of idea developers. but actually for jsps this has been declining: we got little evolution on the jsp side since 3.0; we never got optimize imports, a proper reindentation, jsp inner classes have much less functionality than general classes (no structure navigation, for example).

I really hope jsps bugs and features will get more attention. regards

I believe the plan is to radically enhance the JSP functionality with IJ
5. This should catch all of this. Keep your fingers crossed.

Well, that could be a consolation if the bugs were present only in the EAP versions; but they actually are on the "stable" 4.5 and 4.5.1 too !

The release is a year away, but the EAP is not. This is posted in the
EAP forums.

just a little update: the above "features" are still there in idea 2246 (4.5RC3) and in all irida versions, including 3089.
the last release with a decent jsp support is 4.0.3.

Hi,

We have extensive JSP support plan for Irida, you can find the tracker
requests for it in the Tracker with 'Planned for Version' = 'Irida'.
Please, note, that current EAP cycle does not have this feature yet,
these ones will be in next ones.

What about
http://www.intellij.net/tracker/idea/viewSCR?publicId=6119
Is it deliberately not included or did it just get missed off the list?
