PHPStorm not connecting to Chrome Extension

I'm running PHPStorm 7.7.1 with the latest stable channel release of Google Chrome - Version 33.0.1712.4m.  In Chrome, I have the JetBrains IDE Support extension (version 2.0) installed from Google's webstore. The extension is configured as follows:

Host: 127.0.0.1
Port: 63342
Force CORS: <blank>

My test case is a new blank PHPStorm project with a single index.html file created.  View->Live Edit is checked.  Files->Settings->Live Edit has 'Enable live editing' and 'Highlight current element in browser on caret change' checked.

I right-click index.html and choose Debug.  This creates a Javascript debugging session automatically and starts a debugging session.  At this point Chrome launches but does not open the html file from my project.  A red error balloon appears in PhpStorm saying "Waiting for connection from JetBrains IDE Support Extension for Chrome. Please ensure you have installed the extension and IDE port configured (current port 63342), or see Help"

The port PhpStorm is listening for the connection from the extension matches the configured port in the extension: 63342.

This happens regardless of whether Chrome is already running or not -- I get the same result either way.

I have tried everything I can think of and cannot get PhpStorm and the Chrome extension to talk to each other.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Is it a known issue that I need to wait for an update? Or perhaps is this a local problem?

Any help appreciated. thank you.

Hello!

What is written in extension console (see http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/WI/LiveEdit, How do I know what's wrong?)? Also, can you attach your idea.log?

This was fixed for me with the 7.1.2 update.  Still not sure what happened. If it happens again I'll look in the extension log and the idea log as suggested to get a proper error message.

Thank you much for help!
