Possible to use SSH tunnel/proxy for Subversion?

When working from home, I am relying on proxying my connection to our svn server via an intermediate host. For this, I've set up my ~/.ssh/config with this

Host the.subversionserver.com
     ProxyCommand ssh -q -W %h:%p the.intermediatehost.com

With key authentication this works transparently when using ssh against this host, including subversion. Although using ssh config support unfortunately seems to be in low demand, I would expect PhpStorm to honor the [tunnels] section in the subversion config file, where one can supply custom settings for handling svn+ssh:// URIs, but this seems to not be the case. Putting ssh = $SVN_SSH somegibberishhere has no effect. Does this mean that PHPStorm uses an internal SSH client which isn't configurable?

Is there any other way I can set this up?
