J2EE projects in 4,0

I am finding it difficult and confusing to set up my 3.04
projects under 4.0. The automtic conversion doesn't seem to do a complete job.

Also I can't see how to set up a java module in a J2EE app.
If I create a plain java module in IDEA, there doesn't seem to be any way to make it a child of the J2EE app, and it doesn't appear in IDEA's application.xml as
xxx.jar]]>

How can I do this?

Thanks

Chris

Hey Chris et all,

I've uploaded a sample project to my site which you can feel free to
download and look at an advanced config there. I still need to put
together a simple one that would work/look like a 3.0.5 setup, just
haven't had a chance yet. The file is about 2 MB, and includes libs for
struts etc so show how to set things up from the get-go.

Hope it helps, let me know of anything you might find useful to
add/change to the config.

Thanks, that's very helpful to see how to set up a web module.

I'd still like to know how to set up a java module in a J2EE application.

IDE Settings | Paths

You will see the web module listed there. Press the + sign to add a web
module, add java module. Go through the steps. Once you're done with
the steps you will see the java module added. Now click on web module,
go to dependency tab, you will see your java module listed there. Check
it off. Switch to Web Resources tab, you will see the java module
listed there, if you want to deploy it as part of the web module, check
it off there and set the path of where you want it to end up.

I can see how to make a java module within a web module.

What I can't see is how to make a J2EE Application module that contains web modules, and maybe EJB modules, and also java modules which can be available to all the other modules, and not contained within one of them.

Hi Chris,

Have you gotten any further on this issue? I'm trying to do the same:

I can mark a regular Java module as a dependency of a J2EE app in the 'Module settings' window. But during the make process of the EAR the Java module is not JARed and added to the EAR and manifest file.

Gerrie
