ant task

I searched for information on support for the ant task and found bug reports that had been closed and resolved, but can't find any information on how to get the task to work.

I am on build 3.0.4 of Intellij.

When I execute the input task I am prompted for the value, but there is nowhere for me to type the text.

Is the input task supported? If so, how and where do I key in my text when prompted.

I thought I should clarify my question. Right now in my build since tasks don't seem to work in intellij, I read a property from my build.properties that tells whether this build is being run from Intellij. If the build is not being run in Intellij the task is called. If the build is being run in Intellij the task is ignored and instead I map ant properties in Intellij's ant window by assinging key=#Prompt# which causes intellij to pop up prompt windows which works. However I don't like having the Intellij specific workaround in my build.

I'm having the same issue. Did you ever find an answer to this? Does anyone else know why the task does not produce a dialog or something to enter the value in?

The task doesn't show a dialog.

org/apache/tools/ant/input/DefaultInputHandler.java
/**

 • Prompts on System.err, reads input from System.in

*

 • @author Stefan Bodewig

 • @version $Revision: 1.12 $

 • @since Ant 1.5

*/

Someone will probably have to write a VisualInput task or somesuch for environment's like IDEA where the console is not interactive.
