Is it possible to view the JDK API documentation from the IDE?

Shift-f1 opens docs in browser.

In quick javadoc (control-q) there's also an up arrow for opening the link
in the external browser.

Carlos thanks you for the advice. I have one more question, at the moment the path to the API documentation is pointing to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_02\docs\api\index.html. If I try shift + F1 the error message "The documentation for this element is not found. Please add all the needed paths to the API docs in project properties." Does this mean I would have to add the path of every package documentation element to the API docs path for the packages I wish to use in my project?

In your case the path should just be c:\j2sdk1.4.2_02\docs\api\ without the index.html

Thank you both for helping out!
