Delete Recent Projects - Again

Hi Folks

I'm still in evaluation/trial phase, having the 'delete project from the recent project list' problem too.
(PHPStorm 6.0 build 127.100, on windows 7)

I have no red 'x' by the selected project to click (maybe version related)
http://devnet.jetbrains.com/message/5460674#5460674

nor works the 'select project then hit delete key' solution for me
http://devnet.jetbrains.com/message/5482136#5482136

Since the second solution above was to hit a additional key simultaneously with the 'delete' key (on a mac),
i nearly tried every possible combination of additional keys (alt, ctrl, shift) with the delete-, backspace- and escape-key.
But no luck so far.

Thanks in advance
Roger

Hi there,

I have no red 'x' by the selected project to click (maybe version related)

There were no red "x" -- just ordinary color "x". But yes -- it was like that till v5 (inclusive)

Since the second solution above was to hit a additional key simultaneously with the 'delete' key (on a mac),

You are on Windows, right? So ordinary "Delete" button should work fine. So far you are first Windows user (amongst those who did not know how to remove it v6 and asked question here on forum or elsewhere) that I saw who says that it does not work. Possibly it's just your keyboard (don't know: ultra-compact design or vendor-specific laptop issue etc) or keyboard layout. But as far as I know on Windows/PC Delete key always works as Delete (on Mac it may be combined with Backspace .. but I have not used Mac keyboard for over 1 year .. and even then I had it for a very short period only).

In any case -- if pressing "Delete" key does not work for you for whatever reason (no real idea why it does not work for you) -- you can remove any project from that list manually:

  • while IDE is closed
  • open C:\Users\USERNAME\.WebIde60\config\options\other.xml in text editor
  • find <component name="RecentDirectoryProjectsManager"> node
  • delete unwanted entries from there (they may be listed more than once -- in different subnodes, e.g. under <option name="recentPaths"> and <option name="names">)

Ho ho ho...

Thanks for your answer, your solution worked temporary for me. But....

...I played a little more around, and guess what:
I discovered an older Version of PHPStorm (3.0.2) on disc. Yes, shame on me, I now.

Deinstalled this old Version, deinstalled the recent trial (6.0.0), reinstalled the 6.0.0,
and now I can delete Projects from the Projects-List as all the others, with the 'delete' - Key!

Glad and wiser as yesterday, regards,
Roger

Glad you have it sorted out.

Well... different versions should not affect each other as configuration/temp data (indexes/caches/etc) is stored in separate folders which allows you to run different major versions at the same time (unless you manually specify non-standard folders for those data files; which is quite specific thing to do).

Based on this .. I guess that it was some sort of glitch in v6 installation and even simple reinstall of v6 should have worked as well (purely my guess).

I also am unable to remove projects. OS X, PhpStorm 6.0.1 Build 129.291.

I'm sure devs are aware of this, but wanted this thread to have a Mac user chiming in.
