My Problem with ProFont is that it is nor really monospaced i.e. bold, italic and normal characters do not have the same width. With IDEAs syntax highlighting this it looka a bit strange if layout code does not produce well aligned code.
I've been experimenting with different fonts and haven't found one I
really
like. Does anyone have a suggestion?
In my opinion (and I think I've read this in IntelliJ discussion groups), is that the default font does not differentiate a number one and lower case 'L' character - this is ALWAYS causing me problems.
If I remember correctly the ProFont was identified an (almost) mono-space font which correctly differentiated between these characters.
It's just bold that has a different width (that's how it looks to me, at least :). Stay away from it (or limit it's usage to comments) and you should be OK.

I especially like DialogInput, size 14 and line spacing 0.7.
It's really a matter of taste and habits !

Have you tried ProFont? It's the one I settled for (looks really good if the
size is 9).

Courier New. I've used it forever. I personally dislike sans-serif
monospaced fonts for coding.

I'm currently using ProFont but I don't like the fact that my right margin
line is not in the correct place because the different sizes of symbols.

Wow - nice font. Looks good under Linux as well. Although - doesn't show

It's fatter when bolded, that's for sure.
I haven't noticed any other issues with it, though. If you stayed away from
bold (I use bold only in comments) it would behave like a monospaced font.

You're right. If I turn of bold for Strings, keyword, etc... the right
margin is displayed where it's supposed to be.
Thanks for all the replies!

I use Letter Gothic MT.
It?s a TrueType, sans serif, monospaced font.
You can "test" it at:
http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/agfa/letter-gothic/mt/testdrive.html
There are confusions with 1 and l. Bur zero and capital O can be confused,
and bold doesn?t look bold on small sizes.
ProFont is great but 9 pts is too small for my monitor.

I use FiraCode (https://github.com/tonsky/FiraCode)
Is the best in my opinion. Take a look
