php keeps locking up

Hi I'm running phpstorm 2.0.1 with Java 6 update 20 on Windows 7

I keep experiencing lock ups where the IDE will freeze for a couple of seconds. I have set power save mode and have free ram and no maxed out processer activity - do see a cpu spike though everthing I do soemthing in php storm.

How can I go about alleviating these problems?

Hi dan,

This may be unrelated... but how did you setup your project -- are all files local or you working over the network; how big the files are and what type of files (js, php etc) ?

But overral -- You can start with capturing performance snapshot (for a duration of 30 seconds or more, as described in http://devnet.jetbrains.net/docs/DOC-192) and attaching it here. This as well as specifying your computer &  OS specs should give some info for developers to look into the issue.

The files are local and set to upload on save via ftp

The main file I've seen the issue on (the main one i've been working on) is a 461 line php file

My machine is 2.60 dual core Athlon X2 with 4 gig of ram

I'll run that performance snapshot on Monday as now it's close to beer o'clock

I have a similar issue except it is caused by a 3rd party plugin, DB Browser where when I am in the Settings and I have the DB Browser setting open the entire IDE will lock up and the only way to unlock it is to force shutdown the IDE via the task manager.
It does not happen all the time but is super annoying when it does, I would disable the plugin but it is very useful.

Well, these bug reports should be addressed to DB Browser developers.

Anyway, what features of DB Browser make it more useful for you then built-in SQL console?

Hi I've taken a look at the reproting instrcutions but I seemd to missing something.

USERPROFILE\.IntelliJIdeaXX\system\log doesn't exist

It's phpstrom I'm having the issue with not intellij

I see FTP-related problems only in log... Can you try disable FTP sync to localise the problem?..

I use both but the DB Browser plugin offers more features like back and forward through tree/history, ability to create filters and automatically see the results WITHOUT writing SQL statements and many of the features listed on the plug-in page which I wont retype here.  I use both but for live lookup and quering in seconds I use the plugin more.

I am not sure if it is still in development though, it does crash or cause exceptions in the IDE but it doesn't actually stop working except occasionally in the settings panel it can lockup the entire IDE.
I don't see anywhere to actually report bugs for this plugin but I did add a comment to the plugin page in the comments at the bottom of the page.  It is really useful though, if the built-in plugin had similar features I wouldn't use a 3rd party plugin for Database Queries, lookup, visual viewing of table and database contents, custom filters etc...

Thanks.

BTW if you want to see any of these features built-in please file a comprehensive feature requests to our project tracker.
