best practice for updating pycharm on os x?

Hi,

I've downloaded the 1.1 installer for Pycharm. Should I first uninstall version 1.0 or just run the installer and install it over top?

I know this is a bit of a stupid question but OS X is the operating system I have the least experience with.

Just drag the PyCharm 1.1 app from the dmg (disk image) to the applications folder.  You'll end up having both installed this way so you'll have to make sure you run the 1.1 version when you start the application.  If you no longer need the 1.0 version you may drag it to the trash to uninstall it.  Normally applications on OS X don't include the version number in the name and you would just install over the previous version.  There's a Youtrack to get rid of the version number in the application name on OS X here http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/PY-2376

Hi,

Thanks for that. I suspected that was the case so I did as you mentioned, 1.1 worked and I removed 1.0.
