Hanging during index PyCharm 2.0.2 on OSX 10.7.3

This seems to happen whenever I start PyCharm.  After removing the cache (File->Invalidate Cache or deleting ~/Library/Caches/PyCharm20) the hang in indexing happens sooner (10% progress vs 75% progress).

The log indicates a large number of files to be indexed, but I have left the application for hours without any progress change, and OSX reports the application is not responding.  I can attach the process with gdb, but jstack -F fails to connect to the JVM to produce a stack/thread trace.

Log attached.

BTW, the threadDumps directory is empty.

I have a tarball of the directory apparently causing the hang (it's during the scan of this directory that the index progress last updates), but it's too large (15Mb) for upload.

I'm now seeing the hang repeatedly on startup, and can't get the application to start without getting stuck (Application not responding).  I've deleted ~/Library/Caches/PyCharm20/caches each time and now it seems to get stuck indexing a different place each time.  I've let it sit for >5 min (and sometimes longer) and it never comes back.  The VM is not responding (jstack fails), and nothing is showing up in the log.

The searched paths for the project do not contain any symbolic links.

snapshot taken with OSX Activity Monitor.  Background Tasks window shows "Updating Indices..." and has been stuck showing the same file for the past 10 minutes.
