Can't type into interface

Hello all,

Every once in a while I'm when I'm working in pycharm the keys stop working and I'm no longer able to type into the interface. The keyboard works everywhere else in my system but not in the window. All they mouse actions still work. I must be entering some weird mode but I just haven't been able to find it. Somewhere online said that it was pressing the "insert" key but that doesn't work for me at all. I'm stuck just restarting the program. Any guidance?
