Copy Paste, autocomplete is quite slow

Hi

While i really like Clion for normal use, this three operations make it somewhat useless.

The autocompletion, not poping up the list, this is ok for me if its slow, but the insertion of the chosen element leaves the ide for some seconds frozen. Even worse und not understandable for me

Copy operations (crtl+c) sometimes leaves the ide frozen for minutes, paste operations sometimes totally nukes it completly (will not response for at least 10 minutes). While it is a good training to do less copy paste for e.g. variable names etc, it is quite annoying, since the autocompletion is not really fast.

Has anyone else the same problem or an idea what to do?

Thanks and best regards
Christopher

Hi Christopher!

Performance problems may be caused by insufficient amount of memory. Please try enabling memory indicator (Preferences -> Appearance & Behavior -> Appearance -> Show memory indicator) and keep an eye on it for some time. If it is close to the limit at the time when you are experiencing the problems, then try to increase the Xmx JVM option according to this guide.

If it does not help, please capture a CPU snapshot so we can take a look at what is going on.

And also please provide us more details:
What OS do you use?
How large is your project?
Do you use some external libraries (e.x boost)?

Please check that there are no incompleted tasks in the status bar at the bottom of the window.

Hi Anna

I already increased the memory, so this is not the problem. At the moment the gui is complety frozen again, right after pressing CRTL+C, quite strange. The dump ist attached.

I am using Clion on a 64 bit Linux system with a huge (>1 GB) project, anyway this problem appears also while copying in quite isolated files.

Thanks and best regards
Christopher
