How to overwrite the selected region with the 'paste' buffer ?

Hi there,

How to configure the editor to replace / overwrite the current selection region with the paste buffer? What happens is tht both parts remain in the edit buffer : the selected part and the new 'pasted' parted (Gets inserted). I would like to overwrite the selected region.
