Difficulty with setup - followed quick startup tutorial red warnings.

I am getting  frustrated that  I try following instructions yet the instructions are at times sketchy or incomplete or to geeky. I am trying to install a ruby system on a windows 7 x64 system.
I'm getting to the point of entering code and I get interupted with warning that gem components are missing so I click the button to fix it and wait then get a crash. Tried other ruby's get warnings and download something then still repeats missing gem components.
Using RubyMine 3.2.2 search forum appears this problem has been frustrating users for a while.  I'm getting to the point of abandoning RUBY for good.

Very brave trying to run Ruby under Windows and Iron Ruby no less.

I assure you that Ruby development is less fraught and much more pleasurable when using MRI under either of OSX or Linux. I've written a guide on how to get started on Windows by setting up a development environment under VirtualMachine and Linux.

The guide is slightly outdated by now but should point you in the right direction.

HTH and good luck.

Thanks Nazar. I don't know the first thing when it comes to which platform is best for Ruby development. Just guessed that using Jetbrains RubyMine would simplify things.

I guessed that you create and edit  source with RubyMine and then any of the windows Rubys would be able to convert to the running code without any further input.
