Plugin comparison to the RubyMine App

Hi,

Is there any benefit to using the RubyMine App over using the plugin for IntelliJ?  I want to know if there is any advantage, meaning if I have IntelliJ is it silly to get RubyMine when I can just get the plugin.  I'm coming up at the end of my evaluation and I haven't found any differences between the plugin and the App other than IntelliJ adds a few extra options to their pulldowns.

Thanks,
Jay

I've just been trying both out and the plugin didn't work fully for me. See http://devnet.jetbrains.net/thread/293326. Not sure yet whether there's really a difference (perhaps just a bug) or whether there's some config issue with the plugin that I can correct on my end. If there's a bug I'm sure it'll be fixed soon enough, but if the plugin lagged RubyMine in bugfixes or other updates I'd be less excited about the plugin.

Hello Dave,

Thanks a lot for the clarification, now I see what was the reason of your question. This is a bug in the Ruby plugin for the IntelliJ IDEA and most likely will be fixed in next plugin build. However ocassionally Ruby plugin lags a bit comparing with RubyMine because of compatibility issues. I've asked responsible developer to have a look at the issue described as soon as possible.

Oleg
