I've been using IDEA on my MacBook Pro with an Intel x25-m G2 SSD since December and it's quite zippy. Indexing is faster, which is nice, but that's not the main benefit. Everything is simply snappier with a good SSD. I wrote about my experience on my company blog: http://blog.carbonfive.com/2010/02/uncategorized/solid-state-disks
I am using RubyMine on a SSD driver. Yes, startup and index building are very fast, and you can take a try.
