Linux License entry dialog

Hi
I am slowly moving over to linux.  I have a working rubymine system under windows, an excellent product.  However when I run the rubymine script the enter license  information dialog comes up I enter my username ok I try to cut and paste the license info but right clicking the dialog doesn't work and ^V (paste) just causes a lock up requiring the terminal to be closed.

I have entered into .bashrc the path to rubymine/bin and JAVA_HOME and in to the script file JDK_HOME= "path to java jdk".

Any help much appreciated
Regards
David

Hi
I have also entered the license info manually (what a chore) several times and it says invalid license try again I have double triple and quadruple checked that I have entered the characters accurately.  This license works on my windows setup

Hello David,

What desktop environment do you use?
Most likely you have some desktop environment action mapped to this action. You can either change your desktop environment keymap settings or just use central mouse button click on edit form to paste your code (this should work on most Linux environments).

I have entered into .bashrc the path to rubymine/bin and JAVA_HOME and in to the script file JDK_HOME= "path to java jdk".

Another way I can recommend you:
Create rubymine executable script in /usr/local/bin with content:

export JDK_HOME=<PATH_TO_JDK>
cd <RUBYMINE_FOLDER>/bin
exec ./rubymine.sh
This configuration simplifies installing and configuring new RubyMine installations on Linux Boxes. You will be able to run rubymine from anywhere you want not only from bash session.

Hope this help
Oleg

Hi
I am using Gnome on Ubuntu 9.04 and the middle button didn't work.  I can type into the box but not cut and paste.  When I do type it says invalid license try again but on checking the string it is correct and my username is correct also.  All my other Java based software works without any problems.  So I can not install because I can not get past this dialog, it becomes completely unresposive requiring ^C in the terminal to release it.
Cut and paste works between all other programs including other Java programs e.g. Aptana.
Thanks for your help - now I have made the step toward Linux I do not wish to go back!

David
P.S. your script worked but only when typing the whole path, which is surprising as the PATH Env = /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games.  So it should find it instead the response to "sh rm.sh" from my home directory as su is "sh: Can't open rm.sh"  and the response to "./rm.sh" is "bash: ./rm.sh: No such file or directory" I do not know whether that give pointers to an OS problem. There doesn't seem to be any problems apart from this

Hi
you will be pleased to hear that although it appeared not to paste the license into the dialog, on one try I had cause to wait and after about 2 minutes of non responsivity the installation moved on and asked me to accept your agreement.  So I am now up and running with a copy licensed to me but without apparently entering any license key!

So my question has been answered in a sort of way but there is an error either in the java code or my OS setup

Please ensure your rm.sh script is marked as executable. Run the following to do it.

sudo chmod a+x rm.sh

Could you please attach logs here to investigate your problem? They can be found in ~/.RubyMine10/system/logs

Hi
thanks for your interest.  I now have another problem, rails will not generate a project skeleton in Rubymine it says unexpected = on line 4 of rails expected ].  This setup works ok on the command line and in aptana which use exactly the same ruby and rails code.

Hello David,

Log file didn't show any errors. Could you please try run the same command as RubyMine generates to create rails skeleton form command line?

Hi
I solved all my problems by installing ruby 1.8.7 p160, the ubuntu package p72 seems to have been the problem.  Unfortunately these two varieties install in different location structures so I do not know whether I have completely cleared the p72 version.  I hope there will be no interference from this version and its gems in the future.
The only disadvantage of this is that it is not under control of the package system (apt) so it is down to me to keep it updated.
Thanks for all your help

Hi goondu,

How can I paste the License Code into the Ruby Mine 2.0 (WIndows) in the Enter License Data Dialog?
I would not like to spend hours trying to enter the License Key.

Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V should help you doing this. It is a known issue that right click context menu is unavailable in this particular editor, sorry for such inconveniences.

Oleg
