RubyMine or Ruby plugin for IntelliJ IDEA?

I know, that IntelliJ IDEA is more expensive, but I need to work with more than just Ruby language (Scala, Python and PHP).
So I am curious if Ruby support in IntelliJ IDEA has the same functionality as standalone RubyMine or not?

And can I use other languages in RubyMine just like in IntelliJ IDEA?

Hi Jaroslaw,

So I am curious if Ruby support in IntelliJ IDEA has the same functionality as standalone RubyMine or not?

Please read http://www.jetbrains.net/devnet/docs/DOC-1146. I.e. Ruby plugin for IDEA have all features of RubyMine + JRuby <-> Java integration. Due to differences in RubyMine and IDEA release cycles sometimes new features will be available in RubyMine early than in Ruby plugin.

I know, that IntelliJ IDEA is more expensive, but I need to work with more than just Ruby language (Scala, Python and PHP).

In this case you should use IDEA instead of RubyMine. RubyMine is designed for Ruby and Ruby+Web(e.g. RubyOnRails) development thus it will not support Python, Scala or PHP languages.

And can I use other languages in RubyMine just like in IntelliJ IDEA?

We will add support for languages concerning to Web development with Ruby.
