Is anyone having a good experience with IDEA and CVS on Windows?

We have recently starting using IDEA, and finding that we are having performance issues using it with CVS.  We don't seem to have issues when we use Eclipse to interact with our CVS repositories, just IDEA.

We would like to try and figure out how to determine where the performance issues truly are, and then see how we can mitigate them.

We are using the following:

  • CVSNT as our Server piece - runs on a Windows box, 2000 or 2003 ( need to check on that )
  • developers are all on Windows 2000
  • using IDEA 8.1

Do people have tips on setting up a suitable environment using IDEA, CVS and Windows?  Are there things we can look at to see what we can do to improve performance, i.e. better CVS Server implementation, CVS Server configuration, etc.

Or does IDEA and CVS just totally suck?

We're using CVSNT as our server and mainly Windows XP for dev.
Performance is just fine.
The only thing you have to watch out for with CVSNT is the reverse-DNS
problem, but you'd have that on command line too if it was an issue. I
assume the same boxes are being used for IDEA as Eclipse dev...
