What does Pythonid look for in a "valid" Python SDK?

We have a hermetically sealed python installation our our source tree. When I add the bin directory (containing python binary) as a Python SDK, it complains: "The directory selected is not a valid home for Python SDK".

What makes a "valid home for Python SDK"? What are the criteria that the plugin uses?

I tried looking at the Pythonid source from java.net, but I couldn't find any hints there. If you can't tell me definitively what the criteria are, a pointer to where to look in the source to find out would be really helpful.

On Mac OS X 10.5.6 I could not add a python SDK during the project creation wizard but once I had created the python project, I could then add the python SDK by selecting the /usr directory.
