Problem with plugin breaks Settings panel

Hi,
I've just upgraded to IDEA 8.0.
I've downloaded and enabled the Mercurial plugin. After restarting the IDE, I get an 'internal error' with the following details:

Bad version number in .class file
com.intellij.diagnostic.PluginException: Bad version number in .class file
at com.intellij.openapi.components.impl.ComponentManagerImpl$ComponentsRegistry.a(ComponentManagerImpl.java:15)
(rest of stacktrace omitted)

It looks like this plugin is incompatible with idea 8. But that's not the problem.

The problem is that if now I try to disable the plugin, IDEA won't let me use the Settings panel.
I select it from File->Settings or from the toolbar, but it just won't pop up.
Closing and restarting the IDE won't help.

There is a workaround: go to File->Configure plugins (this dialog does work) and disable Mercurial. After restarting, Settings work again.

My Environment: Intel Mac OS 10.4.11 - Java 1.5

Regards

Paolo
