Maven Reloaded Extremely Slow

The Maven Reloaded plugin is causing extreme slowness in my IDE. It occurs when opening a project or adding an existing module to a project. Maven Reloaded seems to go try to re-download all Maven dependencies (even though they all already exist in my repo). This process has taken upwards of 10-15 minutes on many of my projects. This is not very feasible. If I press the cancel button during the processing Maven Reloaded throws this exception:

No message
mavenreloaded.execution.MavenWorkerCanceledException
at mavenreloaded.execution.ProjectUpdater.run(ProjectUpdater.java:329)
at com.intellij.openapi.progress.impl.ProgressManagerImpl.runProcess(ProgressManagerImpl.java:51)
at com.intellij.openapi.application.impl.ApplicationImpl$1MyThread.run(ApplicationImpl.java:5)

Both seem like bugs to me as it shouldn't be trying to download existing jars every time I startup and it definitely shouldn't cause an exception to cancel it from doing so.

Anyone else seeing this and/or have any insight?

Thanks.
