Clearcase Update

Hello,
I just wanted to check to see if there is expected to be a release of the Clearcase plugin for Irida.

thanks,
adam

I am afraid not for a while since I don't seem to have enough time to even finish my current work on the unitTest plugin that shares the same common infrastructure.
However once I am done with that, maybe there will be others interested in porting it to Irida and maintaining it.

Does that mean you will open souce the code? I have become rather dependent on this plugin as of late, and it seems to me that this would be the way to go.

Ah, if only the sources for 1.32 had been published before entering this
long busy/refactoring period :)

Maybe this will encourage JB to make their own clearcase plugin. I see this plugin stated as a real benefit in reviews of IJ - and a reason to use IJ over Eclipse. I know it would really slow me down to lose this feature.

Depending on how you use the plugin, I have a badly hacked version of
ClearCasePlugin-1.32 that works with Irida for the basic operations
(checkout, checkin, properties, version tree). Checkin-project (Ctrl-K) does
not work and things like add/remove probably don't work.

please - do you have a link?

Would you mind sharing where you read that?
Last time I checked clearcase support in eclipse was superior.

The people who use Eclipse here (those who haven't seen the light) keep
whining about the ClearCase integration just because it makes their IDE
really slow (we're working with Dynamic Views which otherwise show very good
performance). I haven't tested it myself though.

You can try:
http://www.zyllius.com/people/vince/ClearCase-1.32-3126.zip

Note that this is not a Jacques-blessed version, just a quick hack
put together to make 1.32 work for 3126. Let me know if it works
for you.

Vince,

I would't mind at all if you wanted to upload it to the plugins repository. BTW did you decompile the code?

The situation is not rosy on IDEA either. It is true that we get a significant speedup by delaying all CC calls until Check In Project. However we are also at the mercy of IDEA VCS API flackiness as well. I have a lot of people that report cases where the LVCS gets corrupted in some subtle way. Obviously there isn't a way to reproduce them and the logging is not enough.
Cannot have a perfect world I guess ;-(

Hello Jacques,

I've uploaded the 1.32.1-3126 to the plugin repository.
I did have to decompile 1.32 to pick up the changes from 1.31 when
I added 'checkout comments' to my local version, so I just ported that
one to 3126. I really did it quick and dirty though and all Mock classes
had to go (too many OpenAPI changes).

When you are done with refactoring the existing plugin I will be glad
to help do a clean port to Irida :)

Hi Vince,

Just uploaded your adapted version of a plugin in a hope that now I can switch to Irida but... it seems to be broken in 3185 (haven't try earlier versions). Please Vince, can you fix it any time soon or publish your adapted source. Jacque seems to be focused somewhere else, and I am sure many people would appreciate an opportunity to jump to EAP builds, which otherwise is not possible to them. 8-( I do not want to go through the same exercise you did and start off 1.31 source.

I second Andrei's request. I'd like to move to later builds, but the
adaptation only works through build 3144. I'm guessing that it's a simple
fix, so if the adapted code could be made available, that would be great.

Thanks!
