Inspection Gagets not working in 1147??

I downloaded the lastest version of IDEA, and can't seem to get IG to work any more. I get no exceptions, and the plugin is up to date, but nonetheless, no errors are reported. As much as I believe I am a good coder, I'm not that good. And I deliberately created a method with multiple returns, but still no warnings.

Ideas?

Um, I realize this sounds like a "is the power on?" sort of question, did you copy the InspectionGadgets.jar file to the plugin directory of your new installation? Alternative, check under "Settings/Errors", which can sometimes get lost in an upgrade. IG is working fine for me here, after updating to 1147, it compiles fine, and there wasn't even the hint of any possible InspectionsAPI issues in the 1147 release notes.

The way I do installations is to unzip the .zip file on top of the previous release. It has generally worked very well. I didn't blow away the caches (something I usually do in the middle of an EAP, but towards the end, IDEA is supposed to do it).

I just tried blowing away the caches and no change. IDEA's own error highlighting is working fine, just the IG ones don't work.

More investigation reveals that the 1st two in my settings dialog work, but when I get to the complexity measures, they seem not to work. Could perhaps they be causing all the others to fail? (nope..Just tried turning them off, but still nothing).

Anyway, now I have a senario where a couple work (in the begining), and most do not.

Ideas?

I've updated to 1154, and still nothing. I'm not sure how to go about debugging this... I suppose the next step is a clean install, but it is always a pain, I have to re-set up all my settings when I loose the plugin

unless there is a way to export and import IG settings?

Certainly try a fresh install of IG. I'm testing it pretty hard and seeing nothing like this, and I'm also not seeing other users with similar errors. And yes, unfortunately, you'll lose your settings. Sorry.

You could try to copy the
.IntellijIdea/config/options/editor.codeinsight.xml file to a save place...
