Setting my own icons for folders in IDEA

Hi, I wonder... is it possible to set my own icons for folders in IDEA, I mean I want to have a folder icon and one more icon near it indicationg it's status? I need such functionality for plugin. I think I can resolve that somehow creating my own component which implements IconProvider interface. I wonder how can I register such component?
