Debug plugin?

Is there OpenAPI for the debugger in IntellijIdea? I'm using a custom language in my project. It is compiled dynamically at run time (during the execution of my application). I would like to be able to debug it. The scripts written in this language reside in a file with an extension different from ".java". I intend to inject debug information in the generated class file.
My question is:
Will idea be able to step through the script file? And how about break points? Will I be able to place breakpoints before starting the application?
Should I write a plugin for this purpose?

No. This does not work. You have to start your program as a web application for it to work and that is not really acceptable. I would like to start it as a normal application

This question is of great interest to myself as well. Has there been any answer from IntelliJ?

JetBrains supports JSR45, which the new standard for debugging. Look
into that and see if you want to plug into it. It should be pretty
straight forward since it comes standard with JDK 1.4.x.

This is very nice. How about breakpoint support? Will Idea allow me to place breakpoints in my custon language source code? I have tried to place a breakpoint in a non Java and non JSP file and I have failed so far.
