Cannot get IDEA SDK installed!!! Please help.

Hi there,

Obviously this is my first post here based on the subject, so excuse my ignorance :)

I am trying to install the IDEA SDK for plugin development. I downloaded it and unzipped it into my Idea install folder (just as stated on the web), but when I try to configure/access the IDEA SDK, the button is not there in the "JDK & Global Libraries" menu under "IDE Settings". (see step 2 here: http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/documentation/howto_03.html#Step%201)

What am I missing/doing wrong? Please advise.

Thanks a lot in advance!

If you used Demetra, then Global Libraries is moved to Project Roots configuration.

Hi Alexey,

Thanks for the response, but this is where I make my stupid face :|

Sorry, I am not sure what this means. I have idea build 4267, and just want to play with plugin creation. I found some links, but hit a wall on step 2.

any assistance in configuring idea to see and recognize the sdk (idea+java bundle) will be greatly appreciated.

If you skip step 2 by selecting any other JDK, do you see the "Plugin Module" type as shown in step 3? If not, you somehow managed to uninstall/delete the DevKit plugin that is needed for this to work. You should try reinstalling IDEA then.
