ideaIU-134.1342 startup problem under OS-X 10.9.2
When I click the application icon (IntelliJ IDEA 13 EAP.app) nothing happens - no log file. Clicking on IntelliJ IDEA 13 EAP.app->Contents->MacOS->idea opens a Terminal window with logs and IDEA starts. Anybody else experiencing this? Is there an easy fix?
Thanks and regards,
Peter

Same for me, 134.1342 is dead for 10.9.2
Hello Peter,
Please see http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-121383 and this blog post update http://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2014/02/intellij-idea-13-1-eap-134-1342-is-out/
Thanks for the warning, Peter
It does though raise the question, why do you continue to bundle the old 1.7.0_45 rather than the current _51 ?

According to that post, it would seem that we should only see this problem if we want to run IDEA under JDK 7. As much as I'd love to be in that crowd, I can't really do that until JDK 7's font rendering compares with Apple's in JDK 6. Additionally, running under JDK 7 causes the main window to resize itself to the smallest possible bounds at start, plus a host of other less than pleasant visual problems.
I am seeing the failure to start using the default, un-bundled version with Apple java installed. Every other previous version has worked fine without this error.
I agree, I find ideaIU-134.1342 with JDK 7 unuseable for the reasons David mentioned. I reverted to ideaIU-134.1160.

It appears that this is probably just a problem with the launcher itself - I mainly use IDEA for Scala development, and for good or for bad, that means that you have to always ensure you're on the latest EAP. I'd love to see this fixed in the next version.
Same for me when I'm changing the idea.vmoptions and increasing memory to be 2gb! its working with 1.5gb
I am having the same problem. I see a "idea: JNI_CreateJavaVM (/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_65-b14-462.jdk) failed: -6" in the console log. I can also start via opening the package and clicking on the IntelliJ IDEA 13 EAP.app->Contents->MacOS->idea file.
However, when I do start via the package method I see the following in the console log:
3/4/14 10:24:20.000 AM kernel[0]: process idea[2383] caught causing excessive wakeups. Observed wakeups rate (per sec): 729; Maximum permitted wakeups rate (per sec): 150; Observation period: 300 seconds; Task lifetime number of wakeups: 45003
