IDEA 12.1 (126.330) Saves Files on Every Edit

What value do you have for  General->Save files automatically if application is idle for [  ] sec ?

The reason is that IntelliJ IDEA 12.1 has 'Make project automatically' option checked by default at Settings | Compiler.

Oh, I never  enable that!

Bingo! That was indeed the problem.

Thanks for pointing me to it. I'd looked at everything else in the options that I could think of. I've never used this and so was unaware of it.

Hello again,

Having subsequently upgraded to IDEA EA 12.1 #128.18 and currently Scala plug-in 0.7.175 I find that the unwanted auto-save is happening again. However, both the Compiler -> Make Project Automatically and both of the automatic save options in the General options section are off.

Update: I upgraded the Scala plug-in to 0.7.180 and the problem remains.

This is a big problem for me. Can anyone recommend how to alleviate it?

I gather this is something idiosyncratic in my installation.

Late yesterday IDEA began behaving oddly for me so I invalidated the caches and restarted. I also played a little more with the relevant option settings ("Use external build" and "Make project automatically" etc.), by turning them on and off in various ways.

Somewhere along the line, the auto-saving behavior ceased.

I hope it doesn't come back...

And it's back.

Now I'm using 12.1 #129.17, though I performed that upgrade a couple of days ago and this behavior just came back.

Am I the only person who's seeing this?


Update:

I think I found a clue: It happens when two projects are open at the  same time. If I close the project I was only reading, not editing, the  symptom stops.

Finally, I think I have the real problem:

If I have open two projects, A and B and B has its "Make project automatically" option enabled but A does not and I'm editing in A, then every change in A leads to a "Save" action. Only if both projects have "Make project automatically" disabled does this not happen.

You know, I would, but YouTrack is not playing nice (perpetually "Loading...", then "Connection Lost," selections from drop-downs not accepted, text preview not updating etc.).

I'd appreciate it if someone who can get YouTrack to respond would file this for me, 'cause I can't sit around waiting for it to deign to work for me.
