Leda: Configure rearranger

EAP Leda seems to contain a built-in rearranger. In Settings > Project settings > Code Style > Java > Arrangement there seems to be some kind of configuration possibility, but it is completely unclear how to configure it. OK, I can create "matching rules" or edit existing ones, but I can't reorder them nor add separating comment blocks like the Rearranger plug-in can do. Could someone from Jetbrains please shed some light on this feature? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

The mentioned functionality (reorder and auto-generated items) hasn't been implemented yet. We're planning to finish that prior to the v.12 release.

I've read IDEA 12 should be released at the end of the year 2012. When do
you plan to add the missing rearranger features, so EAP users have to check
whether it works correctly?

The latest EAP provides almost full arrangement support. The only missing feature is 'auto-generated elements' which is planned for the v.12.1 (IDEA-93452)

Thanks for the quick answer. Unfortunately, it is useless for us without the ability to generate comments, because this was a major feature we were using in the rearranger plugin. While it is nice that you implemented this feature into core IDEA after my request a couple of years ago, I actually meant to implement it fully into IDEA, not just half-baked. I haven't tried - will the existing rearranger plugin will continue to work with IDEA 12 as a work-around until you have finally integrated all of its features?

  • the feature is planned for the v.12.1 (~end of March);
  • I'll check old plugin's compatibility with the v.12.0 and submit a patch to the author if necessary;
