As a die hard IDEA user I usually participate in the EAP program from day one and I have been using IDEA for Flex development from when it became available (version 8). Every new Leda EAP I give a shot but it turns out it is so broken (at least for Flex/Actionscript development) that I give up after a few minutes, because I makes me totally unproductive. The errors are so numerous and random that I am too lazy to file issues. Of course I do the usual routine clearing cache etc. My project is about 500 .as and 250 .mxml classes (so obviously I cannot provide the source code). Here are some examples of what is broken (all of which are handled correctly in 11.1.4):
- code completion (closest matches are way down the list, no obvious pattern)
- navigation (CMD-B jumps to wrong line numbers)
- code inspection (good code red)
- variables marked as unused even though they are used
The list goes on and on. But as I said, it's difficult to spot a pattern, lots of annoying quirks. Any Flex developers noticing the same problems or am I alone here? If this does not improve I will not automatically upgrade to version 12 this time.
Maybe IDEA is becoming too complex and bloated - like any version 12 software, who knows. I wish Jetbrains had continued the Astella path - a lean Flex IDE nicely branded.
BTW - I do not like the look of the new file icons at all. The file navigation tree is difficult to decode, partly because the directory icons are flat and the file icons are so much more detailed - a very inconsistent scheme as someone pointed out in a different thread.
Thanks and regards,
