Updates don't work under windows

When Idea does an update under windows, it downloads the patch, but never installs it. It works fine under Ubuntu. is there a way to manually kick off the install patch? Is there something I can check to see why it is failing? This hasn't worked for me on windows since sometime in the early 9 EAP.

Hello Charles,

I've had the same problem. Turns out you need IDEA to be running as administrator,
otherwise the update doesn't stick but instead fails silently. Given that,
plus the number of times an upgrade needs to be applied manually anyway,
I tend to just always apply them manually because it's easiest and works
consistently :(

My user is in the administrator group, but I figured the problem was related to something like that. maybe need to update folder permissions. You say you apply the patch manually, how do you do that? It is a pain to always download the new version and copy over my settings and setup links for each EAP.
