Run/Debug Configurations disappearing

I started getting my Run/Debug Configurations disappearing when I shut down and reopened the previous version of Maia. Thinking my project settings were probably corrupt, I installed Maia IU-93.67 and rebuilt my project from scratch. However, when I start it up, it loads my project without the Run/Debug Configurations I entered. When I open the Run/Debug Configurations dialog, it's completely empty. I've re-entered the details several times, and it loses them every time I close Maia. The rest of the project details seem unaffected - what's going on?

Oops - I said 'rebuilt' when I meant 'recreated' my project from scratch - i.e. a new project.

Strange - works fine for me.

Do you use the "Directory Based Format" or the "old" file base format?
Do you have "Share configuration" checked in the debug configuration?
If you "share" a configuration it gets  saved in *.ipr file, else in *.iws file (with file based format).
You might want to check those files.
How do you create the run/debug configurations?
If you select "run" on a main class IDEA only creates a temporary run configuration that does not survive project reload.
You can save such a temporary run configuration by selecting the appropriate item in the run configuration dropdown.

I guess it was the 'old' file-based format - I'm not familiar with the 'Directory Based Format' (aren't files in directories anyway?) it was an old project that had been working fine with all the pre-release version 9 EAPs.

I didn't have the 'share' option ticked.

I create Run/Debug configurations the same way I've always created them - the 'Edit Configurations' dialog. In this case, they already existed in the project, so I didn't have to create them. We have lots of VM options and parameters to pass, so can't just click on run or debug 'main'. This is why it's such a pain when they vanish.

Having had that problem with the existing project, I created a new project from scratch, but the same thing happened.

I've now reverted to the official release version 9 and set the 'share' option ticked, in case there was a problem with storing the R/D configs in the main file. So far it hasn't lost them.

I lost way too much time over this to pursue it any further, so the cause will remain a mystery for now, and I won't be using the EAPs for a while. I seem to go through this cycle with the EAPs in every major release. I guess that's what they're for...
